Janet Montgomery has signed on to star opposite Evan Rachel Wood in indie comedy “10 Things I Hate About Life” for Intandem Films topper Gary Smith and Andrew Lazar’s Mad Chance Prods.
Gil Junger is directing from his own script, with production starting in early December in Los Angeles.
Junger told Variety in May that he was inspired to write the script after coming across a man who had committed suicide at a scenic overlook. He also said that “10 Things I Hate About Life” is not a sequel to his 1999 film “10 Things I Hate About You” — based on Shakespeare’s “Taming of the Shrew” — but rather a story that advances the situations.
Junger also said that the original pic had remained popular enough that he made more in residuals from it last year than he received for directing it in 1999.
Montgomery will play an unhappily married dog groomer and best friend of Wood’s character, who has terrified her friend with a suicide attempt.
