ABC has decided not to pick up their “Gothica” pilot, which starred Amityville Horror, Turistas, 30 Days of Night‘s Melissa George, and Janet Montgomery.
“Set in the present day, the project, created by Matt Lopez, weaves together a mythology that incorporates the legends of Dracula, Jekyll and Hyde, Frankenstein and Dorian Gray. It centers on journalist Grace Van Helsing (Janet Montgomery) who takes over her family’s hometown newspaper.”
George was to play Fiona Hunter, the series’ most formidable force, and everyone – from Grace, to Dorian (Chris Egan), to Victor Frankenstein (Tom Ellis) – would find their mettle and savvy tested by this deliciously cunning woman.
Hi everyone! Sorry for the recent lack of updates, things with Janet have been pretty quiet lately but I managed to find some great stills & behind the scenes photos from Janet’s upcoming movie The Republic of Two and added them to the gallery, she looks awesome, enjoy!
Made In Jersey star Janet Montgomery has landed the female lead in ABC’s Gothica pilot.
The show is described as a sexy, gothic soap set in the present day that weaves together a mythology that incorporates the legends of Dracula, Jekyll and Hyde, Frankenstein and Dorian Gray, among others. Montgomery has been cast as Grace Van Helsing, the prodigal daughter who returns to run the family newspaper (and presumably stake a few vampires).
Previously the show cast Chris Egan (playing Dorian Gray, “a beautifully charming and devastatingly sexy man with a smile like a switchblade” who’s Helsing’s love interest) and Tom Ellis (as Victor Frankenstein, a “brilliant doctor who’s trying to find a way to bring his late daughter, Anna, back to life”). In addition to starring in the short-lived CBS show Made In Jersey, Montgomery has had arcs on HBO’s Entourage and Fox’s Human Target.
With Dancing On The Edge starting this week *squee*, the show is now featuring in many of the TV guides, i’ve added scans from the Radio Times and TV & Satellite Week to the gallery, thanks to Merlin Network @ Lj!
An explosive drama set in the early 1930s following a black jazz band in London at a time of extraordinary change.
Britain was at a great crossroads; just out of the financial crash and before the Second World War, when movies, magazines and music were becoming powerful and jazz was taking the world by storm. The sudden death of one of the band members tests all of the characters’ friendships, love, racial equality and moral values.
Music journalist Stanley misses the end of the Louis Lester Band gig, but decides to take a gamble after hearing the rave reviews, and promptly signs them. The band is booked to play at the shabby Imperial Hotel before an elderly audience who have never seen black musicians before. Many of them walk out in outrage, but a group of socialites are intrigued and impressed, and invite the band to play at a private party for Prince George. The beautiful and beguiling siblings, Julian and Pamela Luscombe, befriend the musicians and introduce them to upper class London society. Julian flirts with singer Jessie, and Pamela begins a relationship with Stanley. The band are treated to rooms at the hotel, fine clothes and sumptuous feasts – they have never experienced decadence like it.
